We have of course the expert help of 3 fantastic guard dogs which are all
three rescue dogs and know their jobs to the T.

First we have Toby and Lilly who we adopted thru the Great Pyrenees rescue
following the expert training of Dan & Paula Lane of Bountiful Farm in LeFlore
County, Oklahoma. Their story is a sad one, which unfortunately is
repeated daily across this great nation of ours. Due to the
overwhelming foreclosure situations across the country many farms, farm animals
and livestock dogs as well as house pets and companions are abandoned often left
to starve on their own, Toby and Lilly are two of these dogs. They were found
wondering along a street in Missouri back in the beginning of this year.
Fortunately for them the pyr rescue was able to take them in and with the help
of many gifted individuals they were evaluated, vetted and placed on
petfinders.com where I find them. After a brief and painless background
check we were approved to adopt these two beautiful dogs. From the rescue
in Missouri they were sent to Dan Lane in Ok for evaluation and further training
as LGD dogs. They stayed with Dan for about 2 months to get ready for
their long exhausting trip to our farm. We hired a pet transport company
to drive them to our farm and on August 17th 2009 at 5:00 am we got to meet them
for the first time. I have to say I was nervous as they are huge dogs and
I'm only 5', but what loves they are. They were very tired from the long
trip and very frightened as they had no idea who we were and this is yet another
home. Over the 8 months since they had been picked up they had been to 4
different homes. We got them home and they slept for a good 24 hours and
both were a little sick. I have to say after 4 months they have adjusted
so easily and I am comforted at night to hear them working The greetings
we get from them is sometimes overbearing as they love people and I think they
know they are home now.
For
additional help we have our rescued Weimaraner, Sadie Girl
who spends her days mostly sleeping however she loves to run
on the outside of the fence to protect the perimeter and
tries just as hard as Toby & Lilly to guard our Alpacas.
She just won't give up her warm comfy bed in the house and
stay out there with them all night. Oh well at least
one of them has to be spoiled.
